Problems with the diaspora vote, Celibashi: 11-15 thousand people cannot get their ballots

Problems with the diaspora vote, Celibashi: 11-15 thousand people cannot get

The voting of the Albanian diaspora for the May 11 parliamentary elections has been accompanied by a number of problems.

The head of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, told News24 that 11-15 thousand people cannot receive their ballots because they have problems with their residential addresses.

Celibashi said that such a number is negligible.

"15 thousand voters have so far not received their ballot envelopes. 11 thousand of them have problems with their addresses, something we expected from the beginning of the process. Most likely this category will not be able to receive their ballots. According to information from DHL, every attempt has been made to contact them, but they have provided incorrect e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

"11 thousand -15 thousand people cannot receive the ballot. This has nothing to do with the integrity of the electoral process. For us, this is a negligible minimum number, based on the experiences of other countries where there have been cases where even half of the ballots have not been able to reach their destination," he said.
