Even though today is election silence and political party campaigning is prohibited, posters with the number 5 of the Socialist Party remain present in some polling center environments.

This photo comes from Unit No. 5 in Tirana, where drawings made in the framework of Europe Day on May 9th are displayed, but without avoiding an electoral message in favor of the Socialist Party.

The palm drawn on the poster, the number 5 of the SP on the ballot, is still at the polling station, even though measures should have been taken to remove it.

The presence of electoral messages in polling stations (or within a certain radius around them) a few hours before or during election day constitutes a violation of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania.

According to Article 77 of the Electoral Code, any form of electoral campaigning is prohibited on election day and the day before it. This prohibition includes:

• Placing promotional materials (posters, banners, party flags, slogans, etc.) in or near voting centers.

• Written or audio-visual messages that may influence voters.

• Actions that can be considered as electoral campaigning directly or indirectly.

Usually, the Central Election Commission (CEC) orders the removal of all promotional material within a 150-meter radius of each polling station before the start of the voting process. But it seems that the CEC has escaped these posters with a clear electoral message.

Tomorrow Albanians will head to the ballot boxes to vote for the country's new government and new prime minister.
