Former Serbian chief diplomat Vladislav Jovanovic says West will force Serbia to

Former Yugoslav Foreign Minister Vladislav Jovanovic says the West must speed up the resolution of neuralgic points in the Balkans. He believes the West has a way of getting Serbia to recognize Kosovo's independence, while citing Republika Srpska as an important factor in the issue.

"The West is currently more engaged in BiH, wanting to isolate RS, force it to withdraw from what it believes are radical demands, and put pressure on Serbia, given its sensitivity, both because of the elections. ", also because of Kosovo", said Jovanovic.

According to him, the West wants to force Serbia to accept the situation they created as soon as possible - to recognize Kosovo and thus cease to exist as a destabilizing factor in the Balkans.

The former Serbian diplomat mentioned several reasons according to him for the increased international presence in the region, while adding that Britain, according to him, considers itself a specialist on Balkan issues and has traditionally and continuously been present for centuries in a visible and invisible.

"That rich historical experience, knowledge and ability to exploit advantages and contradictions is now being used in the broader interests of the United States and its Western allies," Jovanovic said.

He said the dialogue started with a single goal - the normalization of relations, which means that Serbia recognizes Kosovo's independence, and added that everything else is irrelevant to both the West and Kosovo.

"And our expectations that nothing will be resolved radically, but that dialogue will be dedicated to improving the lives of Serbs and resolving practical issues related to contacts and cooperation between us and Pristina, are not of interest to the West," he said. / Express
