On Independence Day, the anniversary of the birth of Adem Jashari

Today marks not only the anniversary of the Independence of Albania, but also the anniversary of the birthday of the legendary commander, Adem Jashari. The former commander-in-chief of the KLA was born in Prekaz, Drenica, on November 28, 1955.

He is one of the main architects of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Yugoslav police-military forces attacked their home in March 1998, where he died heroically along with fifty-six members of his family.

This is a unique case in the history of wars. He holds the title "Legendary Commander of KLA". He was awarded the title "Hero of Kosovo" in 2008.

Around 7-8 thousand troops had surrounded the Jashari neighborhood. The attack lasted three days and two nights. The Serbian forces launched the attack without any warning. Most of Jashar's extended family gathered in a single room.

Adem Jashari and his heroic sacrifice became a symbol of independence for the Albanians of Kosovo and for Albanians everywhere.

"Bac u kry", is the expression that Albanians often use as the realization of the sublime goal of Adem Jashari's entire life and activity.
