Safet Bajri, the "angel of Shkodra" who moves in armored vehicles

Safet Bajri, the "angel of Shkodra" who moves in armored vehicles

By Flamur Vezaj
In a story that would make even the most naive laugh, Safet Bajri tries to appear as an ordinary citizen, who has no connection to the underworld. According to him, there are no "strong men" in Shkodra, even though the surname Bajri is closely linked to a series of criminal events, from murders to extortion of businesses.
But if there are no strong men, then why is Shkodra under terror? Why do he and his people move in armored cars, even one with fake license plates? Why does the city experience successive assassinations and structured violence? And why does he himself feel the need to protect himself so much, when, according to him, there is no conflict?
Safet Bajri complains that he has been attacked by the media and that his family has been disturbed. This, while he does not say a word about the families of those who have been killed, about the children who have been orphaned and about the parents who have buried their sons. He talks about "hatred" against him and his family, but he cannot explain why Shkodra has become an arena of revenge, where his name and that of his clan are mentioned at every event.
As for the Dobraç massacre? He "feels bad", but coincidentally the car that committed the murder left precisely from his area. Another "innocent" coincidence. Just as it was a coincidence that in Belgium he was convicted of drug trafficking, prostitution, extortion of businesses with violence and threats, while in Shkodra, according to him, "they don't deal with fines".
He claimed that he has nothing to do with politics, but they forgot to ask him that in the latest wiretaps they talk about Rama, Balla and even a house book for MP Harusha, etc., ordering him not to vote even in parliament, let alone appointments on their behalf in the police, administration, etc.!
As for the murders that have occurred over the years in Shkodra, he knows nothing. For Gjini (the last proven one) whom his brother Behar Bajri killed on Martinaj's behalf? Nothing. And when he ran out of excuses, he hinted that "the children of the victims that the rivals killed have already grown up and are taking revenge". Is this the reality that Shkodra is experiencing? An endless cycle of revenge, where yesterday's victims become tomorrow's executioners?
The biggest irony? He claims that he has no wealth, that his property has not been seized, but in the meantime he moves around in three armored cars and 18 thousand euros were found in his house which, according to him, was "the money of his 10-month-old daughter". In this story, only Safeti and his family are victims, the others are irrelevant.
And despite all these facts, he continues to speak as if he were an ordinary citizen, an innocent person who has been wronged. But Shkodra knows both the "innocents" and the silent truths that hide behind them.
