Berisha me fermerët: Politika që ndoqi qeveria Rama ishte

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with farmers in Elbasan in the framework of the May 11 elections. During his speech, the Chief Democrat also unveiled the opposition's program for farmers in the 2025-2029 mandate.

The leader of the opposition accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of the policy he has followed, describing it as destructive. According to him, today the agriculture and livestock sector, which is a basic sector, is completely abandoned by the government of Edi Rama.

Dear residents of Gjergjan, I greet you very cordially. I express my greatest respect for you, for all the residents of the region, for all the farmers of Albania wherever they are. Women and men who make their lives with great sacrifices, with effort and sweat. Your sacrifices are the nobility of your soul. Therefore, I am very pleased to meet you noble people, people of work. I also greet Mr. Alizoti, the political leader of the district. A cordial greeting to our ally, Mr. Edmond Haxhinasto.

I greet all the deputies, candidates for deputies, present at this meeting of the Elbasan region, who are for us really proud of the DP, with the deepest conviction, that they will represent you with dedication, with great dignity in the next Albanian parliament and in the next government of the largest coalition that Albania has ever had to date, the coalition for Magnificent Albania. We come to this meeting with you, because in 12 years your farms, your products, your effort, has experienced great difficulties, significant losses, serious upheavals.

Today, if we go to the stores of Elbasan, Tirana and everywhere, 80% of the products are produced in Shumadi, in Banat, they are produced outside Albania. Today, the agriculture and livestock sector, which is a basic sector, in which about half a million Albanians are employed, is a sector not to say completely, but almost completely abandoned by this government. This sector gives the country 90% of its domestic production. This sector finances only 0.5% of domestic production. You are no less worker than the farmers of Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, or Montenegro. No, you are very hardworking. And of course, you want your farms, your greenhouses, your stables, to move forward, to prosper, to be enriched.

But, this does not happen. Because, with the policy that this government followed, it was a destructive policy. Open the borders, customs for the products of Serbia and Macedonia, whose farmers are subsidized from 5 to 8 times more than you. So, if you receive a subsidy of 100 euros, a farmer in Macedonia receives a subsidy of 500 euros, a farmer in Kosovo receives a subsidy of 400 euros, a farmer in Serbia receives a subsidy of 700 or 800 euros. This is the reality. This is the truth! What happens?

It happens that you cannot compete in the markets, because it has subsidized the price, and your children leave to build their dream, not in Elbasan, not in Albania, but to build it in Italy, Greece, and other countries.
I will send them a very cordial greeting and a very great tribute. They have become outstanding individuals, outstanding businessmen, and are ardent patriots where they are. One of them is, Eduart Çekrezi, whom I was lucky enough to know very well recently. But, many, many others. This year, they are voting for the first time and they will give their country historic support with their vote. Together with you, they will separate Albania from this great evil," said Berisha.
