The elected MP of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi, has raised strong accusations against the authorities for the way they have treated the president of this political force, Ilir Meta, who has been in detention since October 2024.

Invited to News24, Blushi stated that there is no evidence against Meta that justifies his detention and extreme isolation, emphasizing that his basic rights as a detainee are being severely violated.

"Ilir Meta is being held without evidence in complete isolation. He has been denied all his rights. He is not allowed to meet family members, MPs, party leaders, and even his legally registered phone has been taken away," Blushi said.

According to him, even though he himself has a special permit from the Special Prosecution Office to meet Meta as the leader of the Freedom Party, this permit has been canceled without any official notification.

"I have an authorization from SPAK to meet Ilir Meta, but it was taken away without giving any reason. Even the lawyer is prohibited from meeting him regularly," Blushi said.

He did not spare criticism of the situation in Albanian prisons, which, according to him, have become places of extreme degradation.

"Look at what is happening today in the country's prisons! They have turned into brothels, there is no escort left without walking up and down with high-risk individuals. While an opposition leader is not even allowed to see his family," Blushi declared in harsh tones.
