DP denunciation: Police in Elbasan block public space, no institution to help

The Democratic Party has denounced the complaint of residents of the village of Bradashesh in Elbasan that the DB, part of the State Police structures, has blocked public spaces, preventing 3 families from using the road to go to their homes.

The spokesperson for the Anti-Corruption Unit in the Democratic Party, Genta Vangjeli, said in a statement to the media that despite the denunciation, no institution has come to the aid of the residents.

Statement:

Thanking the citizens for the trust they have in the Democratic Party's stance on their protection, we announce that residents of the village of Bradashesh (Elbasan) have filed their complaint against the citizen with the initials DB, part of the State Police structures.

The above person is accused of blocking public spaces by preventing 3 families from using the road to get to their homes.

For their concern, they are aware:

-The head of the village of Bradashesh;

-Territory Protection Inspectorate near the Elbasan municipality;

-Service for Internal Affairs and complaints at the Ministry of Interior;

-Elbasan Local Police Directorate and the General Directorate of the State Police;

-Police Supervision Agency.

After the ordeal repeated 3 times with the release of the square by the relevant state structures, the above citizen has re-blocked the public space, creating conflict with the residents affected by the phenomenon and ignoring the mandatory implementation of the law.

The Territory Protection Inspectorate of the Elbasan Municipality, by decision no. 212, dated 19.09.2020, has ordered the demolition of the illegal building and the release of the road for residents.

The road blockers, accused of the criminal offense of "self-judgment" by residents who are prevented from passing through public spaces, sued the decision of the Elbasan Municipality IMT, requesting its invalidity, and until the end of the trial of the case, the court has issued an interim decision to take the measure of securing the lawsuit.

Mr. Muhamet Rrumbullaku himself considers the actions of the employee of the Elbasan DB Police Station as disturbing, which have damaged the image of the State Police employee in the eyes of the public.

The Democratic Party demands that urgent measures be taken against the state police officer who blocked the road, the immediate release of the public space, and the immediate resolution of the concerns of citizens who, as these images confirm, are forced to cross the stream to make it possible to exit and arrive at their homes.

Edi Rama's government cannot even ensure the use of public space, nor can it provide basic services to citizens who must wait for years until their rights are recognized by the court.

Together let's free Albania from injustice...

The Democratic Party will always be at the service of the citizens...
