Albanian art in mourning, "The Honor of the Nation" is dying out,

One of the greatest figures of Albanian cinema, the renowned director Dhimitër Anagnosti, passed away this Monday at the age of 89.

The bitter news was announced by his daughter, Juna Anagnosti, through a post on social networks where she wrote:

"Farewell Dhimitër Anagnosti, the director of our lives! After a long illness, you obey the law of life! Farewell, grandpa!"

Dhimitër Anagnosti was born on January 23, 1936 in Vuno, Vlora, and from his early youth he dedicated himself to art, studying at the "VGIK" Institute of Cinematography in Moscow.

His first film, "Man Never Dies," was awarded First Prize at the World Film Schools Festival in the Netherlands in 1961, paving the way for a brilliant career.

He made a series of films that remained unforgettable in the memory of the Albanian public, such as “Debatik”, “Our Land”, “The Commissioner of Light”, “The Silent Duel” and many others. During his 40-year career, Anagnosti has made over 14 feature films and 10 documentaries, being not only a director, but also a screenwriter.

For his extraordinary contribution to art, he was honored with the title of "People's Artist" and was recognized with dozens of awards. As one of the most prominent directors of our cinematography, he has been honored with the high title of "Honor of the Nation".
