Albanian weightlifter Briken Calja has put in an exceptional performance at the European Weightlifting Championships being held in Batumi.
Calja was declared European champion in the clean and jerk for the 79 kg category, after managing to lift 187 kg, dominating the competition in this discipline.
In the clean and jerk style, the red-and-white weightlifter lifted 153 kg, ranking fourth.
Thanks to his performance in both styles, Calja was also declared European vice-champion in the two-event, with a total of 340 kg lifted.
This is another important success for Albanian weightlifting, bringing Albania two medals in the international arena and confirming the high form of the red and black athlete.
