Curri: The Court's decision on Veliaj is political, Rama did not need

The Constitutional Court today granted Erion Veliaj the right to continue his duties as mayor of Tirana.

With this decision, the Government's decision dismissing the mayor of Tirana, following the proposal made by the Tirana Municipal Council, was overturned, and the decree of President Bajram Begaj setting the date of the elections in Tirana was annulled.

In "Top Story", analyst Arjan Curri called this act a political decision. According to him, Rama did not need elections in Tirana.

"I saw today that left-wing judges and one right-wing judge voted in favor of Veliaj. Rama's own strategy is to make things easier for Veliaj by making it difficult for him to be released politically by the judiciary."

I see Rama again as a director, because in my opinion Rama did not need elections for Tirana. He changes his strategy when he knows that he is not comfortable running the country. If there were elections, it would be a huge headache. The court's decision is political.

"His personal power was not violated. He alone has the power. His government does not need elections. Rama has frozen the entire political dynamic,"  Curri said.
