Importers reassure Albanians, food and flour supplies will not be lacking

The main importers of flour and food guaranteed that the country will not suffer from supplies, despite the situations and difficulties created initially by the Covid-19 pandemic and now the Russia-Ukraine war.

Eleni Babameto, who owns the company "Teuta", one of the largest importers of food items in the country (Oil, sugar, flour, rice, beans, etc.) said that the international market is suffering from some problems created by the pandemic in supply chains, but she said that importing companies in Albania with long experience have guaranteed supplies.

He claimed that Albanian grain import companies have already managed to find suppliers from other countries, removing their dependence on Russian markets. He said the country will continue to be supplied with wheat normally and assured citizens not to panic shopping for fear that there will be no product on the market.

In recent days since the start of the war, citizens across the country have been making unusual purchases for fear of supply shortages and rising prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war as the country is one of the world's largest grain exporters. .

"People are taking out loans and debts to carry out unusual food supplies," said Samiu, a retailer in the May 5 area of the capital. This high demand further drives up prices in the domestic market, he asserted.

Across the country, but especially in the districts, people are carrying out large supplies for fear of war. Purchases are mainly focused on flour. Even before the Russian attacks on Ukraine, markets are suffering from the high demand that emerged during the food pandemic.
