Lala: I have reasonable doubts that Olsi Rama associates with exponents of organized crime

Journalist Klodiana Lala has commented on the accusations of the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, against the brother of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Olsi Rama.

Invited to the studio of "Open" on News24, Lala stated that the Xibraka file was not properly investigated and the Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes said in 2017 that the police intervention in Xibraka was hasty and ineffective, creating doubts about the whole matter.

She added that the evidence that the prime minister's brother and a drug trafficker used the same vehicle is enough for the criminal file to be reopened, as she recalled the case of former minister Saimir Tahiri that was discovered by the authorities due to the TIMS system.

Lala emphasized that there are reasonable suspicions that the brother of the head of the government is associated with exponents of organized crime, constituting sufficient evidence to investigate him.

" The Xibraka file was not properly investigated, we know that now. The only question that naturally comes to me is why exactly this denunciation in these moments, which should be clarified by Mr. Bardhi. The opposition has been talking for years about possible implications of Olsi Rama.

The Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes in 2017 said that, based on the evidence obtained in the investigation, it expressed the opinion that the intervention of the police in Xibrakë was hasty and ineffective since the ready product and other things were not found in the laboratory, but only traces. Given that evidence was being poured into Xibraka.

I have not confirmed what Mr. Bardhi says about TIMS, but Tahiri was put under criminal investigation only because his vehicle was used by some people who were found guilty of drug trafficking. This fact alone is enough for the criminal file to be opened by SPAK, because there was no answer as to what was done with this criminal file.

We must bear in mind that the prosecutor who had this file was promoted to the general prosecutor of Albania. We did not get the answer here. I don't want to go into whether Olsi Ram is connected, but there is enough evidence to open the case.
When a vehicle is used by the prime minister's brother and another time by a drug trafficker, here one suspects beyond political propaganda that there is an indication that needs to be investigated.

I can't point the finger of accusation, but I can request an investigation from the Albanian prosecutor's office based on these indications" , she said.
