An Albanian murderer, sentenced to 32 years in prison in the UK, has caused controversy after posting a video on TikTok directly from his cell, begging authorities to transfer him to a prison in Albania, writes the Daily Mail .

Eugert Merizaj, 32, was convicted in May 2022 for the shooting death of rival drug dealer Hemawand Ali Hussein.

Although using a mobile phone behind bars is illegal, guards at HMP Manchester appear unable to stop him, as he has published and broadcasted "live" online games that generate cash.

A transfer agreement between Britain and Albania, which came into force in May 2023, provides that any Albanian sentenced to over four years in prison in the United Kingdom can serve the remainder of their sentence in their home country, with the aim of reducing costs for British taxpayers.

However, its implementation is moving slowly. According to Daily Mail sources, so far only 10 Albanian prisoners have been transferred to Albania, despite dozens of requests made.
