Scandal in Maqellarë, school toilets blocked, students defecate on the

A worrying situation was recently reported by the show Fiks Fare at the 9-year-old school in Maqellara, where the toilets have been out of order for days, forcing students - including those in the lower grades - to relieve themselves in the school corridors.

The show Fiks Fare brought photos and videos that show the scandalous state of the hygiene and sanitation facilities. The toilets are blocked, the doors are damaged and in the absence of a sanitation worker for maintenance and cleaning, hygiene has become a major problem.

The school principal says that the problem is the lack of a restroom. "We don't have a restroom, the teachers and students have been cleaning," the school principal said, adding that this year a restroom worker has not been provided. In previous years, according to him, parents paid for the restroom, while this year, the responsibility has been transferred to the municipality.

"The situation deteriorated because we didn't have a sanitarium. In fact, the children in the first grades couldn't even use the toilets - we'll do it 'alla turka', so far, the cleaning has been done by the caretakers and the students themselves," he added.

When the question was raised about how it is possible for a first-grade child to clean the toilets, the principal corrected the previous statement, saying that the children only cleaned the classrooms, while the toilets were cleaned by the teachers.

Journalists also sought an answer from the Dibër Municipality, where the deputy mayor, Lorenc Cibaku, was present.

confirmed that they are aware of the situation and that the decision has been made to send a sanitary worker paid by the municipality to the 9-year school in Maqellara.

"Service workers have been on site to clean the toilets and a sanitation worker will be present at all times," he said.

Meanwhile, just 2 hours later, the toilets are unblocked and cleaned by municipal employees./TCH
