Today, March 7, is Teacher's Day.

Today is March 7, Teachers' Day, which commemorates the opening of the first school on March 7, 1887 in the city of Korça. The first Albanian school was led by Pandeli Sotiri and was a school with a national and secular (non-religious) character where all lessons were taught in the Albanian language.

Its leaders were other well-known figures of the Albanian Renaissance, such as: Petro Nini Luarasi, Nuçi Naçi, Thoma Avrami.

The March 7th holiday was reinforced during the communist period. It was the most significant day for teachers. It was a beautiful tradition, when students would choose their best representatives, who would visit the teacher's house. The teacher would welcome them with sweets and fruit, while the students' gifts were very symbolic: flowers or a book.

Today, this tradition has changed. Teachers' Day is organized at school, with concerts and various activities. Even the gifts are more diverse.
