It was declared a National Park, Leo Di Caprio writes about Vjosa: It will flow freely forever

The Vjosa River was declared a National Park by the Albanian government, two days ago, after several years of campaigns opposing the construction of HPPs in the area.

The well-known actor Leonardo Di Caprio, who joined the awareness campaign at the time and called for an end to the construction of HPPs on Vjosa, also reacted to the council's decision.

In a post on Instagram, Di Caprio writes that Vjosa will now flow like a free river forever, for all future generations. The actor congratulates Albania for making efforts to save Vjosa.

"Today, history has been made. The cooperation between the Albanian government, civil society and business created the National Park for the first wild river in Europe. The Vjosa River will flow free forever, from source to sea, for future generations to enjoy. A new vision for global water conservation. Congratulations to all who made this amazing effort a reality!” , writes DiCaprio on Instagram.
