13th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo / Some of the facts related to this day, Newborn gets a new look

Kosovo today celebrates the 13th anniversary of its independence. On February 17, 2008, at 15:30, in a meeting attended by 109 out of 120 deputies, Kosovo was declared an independent, democratic and sovereign state.

The Declaration of Independence was the culmination of a long and difficult journey for the citizens of Kosovo. Until June 1999, citizens suffered the consequences of ethnic cleansing from Serbia.

Immediately after this decision, official Kosovo sent letters to all governments of the world for its recognition. Costa Rica was the first country to recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

Since 2008, Kosovo has been recognized by 117 countries. The latest recognition is that from Israel on February 1 this year. Kosovo will celebrate this anniversary with a new government led by the Vetëvendosje Movement, which convincingly won the February 14th snap parliamentary elections.

With the slogan "We brought peace together", the Newborn monument has changed its appearance on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of independence. This time the letters are painted with the colors of the army and the symbol of the hands. Through this it is intended to show the world that we are together, as in the day when independence was declared.

Agenda of activities during the day

The activities start with the ceremony of raising the state flag by the Ceremonial Guard of the Kosovo Security Force.

Më pas do të mbahen homazhe në Kompleksin Memorial Adem Jashari në Prekaz, të varri i Presidentit Rugova si dhe tek varrezat e dëshmorëve nëpër komunat e Kosovës.

Manifestimi qendror për shënimin e Pavarësisë mbahet në Forcën e Sigurisë së Kosovës në të cilën do të marrin pjesë presidentja nw detyrw Vjosa Osmani, kryeministri në detyrë Avdullah Hoti si dhe figura tjera publike.

Gjatë kësaj dite po ashtu do të organizohen gara sportive nga federatat e ndryshme te sporteve si dhe do të hapen ekspozita dhe koncerte nga institucionet kulturore në vend.

Disa fakte për ditën e shpalljes së Pavarësisë në Kosovë

1. Pavarësia e Kosovës është shpallur me datën 17 shkurt 2008, në orën 15:39 minuta.

2. Dizenjuesi i flamurit dhe i stemës së Kosovës, Muhamer Ibrahimi.

3. Të parët që nënshkruan deklaratën e pavarësisë së Kosovës, ishin Presidenti Fatmir Sejdiu, kryetari i Kuvendit, Jakup Krasniqi, si dhe kryeministri i vendit, Hashim Thaçi.

4.Shtetet e para që njohën Kosovën si shtet pas shpalljes së pavarësisë ishin: Kosta Rika, SHBA, Franca, Afganistani, Shqipëria, Turqia, Britania e Madhe etj.

5. Pergamena e vjetër 200 vjeçare në të cilën është nënshkruar deklarata e pavarësisë së Kosovës, gjendet në zyrën e kryetarit të Kuvendit.

6.Muzeu i Londrës ishte ai që ia fali Kosovës pergamenën për shpalljen e pavarësisë!

7. Flamujt e parë të Republikës së Kosovës ishin prodhuar në Turqi.

8. Himni i Kosovës, i kompozuar nga kompozitori Mendi Mengjiqi, për herë të parë është kënduar në seancën e shpalljes së pavarësisë së Kosovës.

9. The white stars on the flag of Kosovo symbolize the different communities living in Kosovo, the yellow map symbolizes the wealth of Kosovo, while the blue color symbolizes Europe.
