The 29-year-old from Ghana takes the title as the tallest man in the world

A 29-year-old from Ghana, Africa appears to have taken the title as the tallest man in the world, taking the place of 40-year-old Sultan Kösen, from Turkey, 2.72 meters, and holds the current Guinness record. A local hospital in northern Ghana told Sulemana Abdul Samed during one of his last check-ups that he had reached a height of 2.89 meters.

But the clinic did not have the right conditions to measure him because he was even taller than the measuring rod, so his measurement was made with a simple meter. He is taller than most of the houses in his neighborhood while his shoes are specially made for him from spiked car tires. The 29-year-old says:

I have no problem with the way God made me. I realized that my tongue was so extended in my mouth that I couldn't breathe properly.

He relates that as he woke up one day and then realized that every other part of his body had started to grow. Sulemana was left with an abnormally curved back, Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects the body's connective tissues.

This is one of the main symptoms of his condition, as there are also serious complications of his condition. Doctors say he needs a surgical procedure on his brain to stop the growth, but Ghana's medical insurance cannot make it happen.
