The mystery of Cleopatra's death: Was it suicide or murder?

Cleopatra's name evokes an inexhaustible mystical feeling. As one of Egypt's most famous queens and the last figure of the Ptolemies, she is known for her beauty, intelligence and diplomatic skill. But as for her death, it still remains an enigma that contains several questions: Was her death the result of a desired suicide or au vra?

After ruling for more than 22 years, in 30 BC Cleopatra faced powerful challenges from Rome. After losing the Battle of Actium against the forces of Marcus Antonius and Octavian (in which she was engaged as Antonius' ally), she fled to Alexandria and was confined to the temple of Isis.

The most popular version of her death is that she used a needle to commit suicide after failing to reach a good deal with Octavian, who now controlled Egypt. She jumped into the basement of the temple, killing herself with poison.

However, some historians believe that Cleopatra may have been murdered. A much-discussed version is that she was killed on the orders of Octavian, who needed to destroy all important information that could be leaked on the Romans. According to this theory, you were injected with poison in your veins by Octavian's men, to disguise the murder as a suicide.

There is also speculation that the one who killed her was her brother Ptolemy XIV, who had been summoned to Alexandria to be part of the kingdom.
