The new Instagram option seems to be not that necessary, users do not welcome it

Instagram introduced a new option that seems to try to turn the platform into a Twitter competitor.

Notes is the new option through which users can use text/emoji to update their friends with news, ideas, thoughts and so on. Instagram was once focused on photos, then prioritized videos (through Reels, which openly competes with TikTok) and is now paying attention to texts as well.

To write in Notes, go to the inbox, click your photo and then in the box "Share what's on your mind" write the message you want to publish. Next, choose whether you want to share it with your followers always or only with those you have on your Close Friends list.

Your note will appear in the inbox and other followers' replies will come as DMs.

Instagram said that during testing it found that people were able to start conversations more easily. So maybe it helps people what to write in messages so they don't end up at the famous CKM again. We also hope Notes doesn't bring back the "like and TBH" trend. [pleading emoji].
