Aggravation of the situation after Nancy Pelosi's visit, China cuts off

China is ending cooperation with the United States in several key sectors, including climate change, military talks and efforts to fight international crime.

This decision comes after the visit made to Taiwan by the leader of the House of Representatives in the United States, Nancy Pelosi.

China, which has also announced sanctions against Pelosi and her family, considers her visit to the island a challenge, as it claims sovereignty over Taiwan.

This island, on the other hand, considers itself separate from China. The new decisions were announced by China's Foreign Ministry on Friday. According to her, the dialogue between the American and Chinese officials for protection will be stopped, until the cooperation for the return of illegal immigrants, climate change and international crime will be suspended.

The Chinese ministry has also considered Pelosi's visit to Taiwan as a "scandalous provocation".

Pelosi is the highest US official to visit the island in the last 25 years.

But White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Pelosi had "every right" to go to Taiwan and that China's new measures are "fundamentally irresponsible".

"We will continue our efforts to maintain open lines of communication with Beijing, as we defend our interests and values," she said.

Although the US does not officially recognize Taiwan, it maintains strong ties to the island, including arms sales for the purpose of territorial defense.

Beijing is currently conducting air and sea military exercises around Taiwan, and the exercises are expected to continue until Sunday.

More than 100 warplanes and 10 warships have participated in these exercises.

According to Chinese state media, at least one ballistic missile was seen passing over the island.

Taiwan's Foreign Ministry has not confirmed or denied the authenticity of such a statement, but has considered the exercises as "provocative acts".

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said on Friday that there is "no justification for this extreme, escalating and disproportionate military response"./REL
