Multiple accident in Italy, 100 cars crash into each other

A multiple accident occurred in Italy, on the A22 highway. The reason for the accidents is the fog, a truck driver lost his life in a collision that happened at 11:55 in the Modena area.

 In the same area, due to massive rear-end collisions between Reggiolo and Carpi on the A22, between km 285 and 300 in both directions, the Brenner motorway was closed, at the entrance, as a precaution for around seventy kilometres. Firefighters pulled out several people trapped in sheet metal.

A total of one hundred cars were involved in the big accident and the collision was caused by poor visibility due to fog. Several people were injured, none seriously.

After the collisions from the rear, another accident occurred, in which a truck driver lost his life, where two vehicles were involved, the accident occurred at kilometer 308 of the A22 heading north, in the municipality of Campogalliano. Firefighters intervened with a crane, traffic police and 118 with an ambulance.

The decision to close the section entering the A22 was taken to reduce pressure. Crossings will be gradually reopened as the situation is resolved.
