Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj confirmed the breakdown of his relations with Prime Minister Edi Rama, in whose cabinets he served in important positions, being one of the longest-serving ministers and closest to him.

Ahmetaj denied having a relationship with Klodian Zoto, Stela Gugalla and Mirel Mërtir, who are wanted for the incinerators case, but admitted knowing the latter.

 Ahmetaj rejected any claims about his involvement in any of the procedures for the three incinerators, such as in Elbasan, Fier or Tirana. However, in the meantime, the Special Prosecutor's Office has publicly stated that related to the procedures for the case of Elbasan, investigations are continuing regarding the activity of several institutions, including Mr. Ahmetaj, as Minister of Economy at that time.
