Was Xhafer Deva a patriot? Nevila Nikaj: Light and shadow figure; Pollo: His

Historians in Albania have not fully agreed with the definitions that link the figure of Xhafer Deva with the crimes committed by the Nazis, during the Second World War.

Historian Nevila Nikaj said on the show 'Politiko' that Deva was a patriot and a nationalist and a figure seen in the shadows of time, the period in World War II

" Xhafer Deva was a patriot. All the characters in our story have their shadows because they were difficult moments in World War II. Given the coming province and what happened to Kosovo after the raising of the flag in Vlora should be well understood for elections that we judge today. There are different circumstances, such as that of the Norwegian Prime Minister, Petten in France, who joined Germany or were put in their service.

In the case of Albanians, especially the rest outside the borders, it was an unfulfilled dream for years. We understand but we do not say well done to you.

The reactions to Deva's house are political. The Deva family has been forcibly displaced from the city.

Their anti-communism is not in doubt. The nationalist part is also in Albania, but in Kosovo it is stronger. Their patriotism is not discussed.

"It is very difficult to get into the skin of those people who one day found themselves speaking Albanian ," said Nevila Nikaj.

On the other hand, Genc Pollo in the capacity of historian said that his Collaborationism is understandable and justifiable to some extent.

"They escaped intimidation and oppression. There is a difference between the Albanians of Albania and Kosovo. We here had no threat of extinction as they have suffered until recently. For them it is a luxury to ask Kosovars to judge the manliness of fascist and Nazi doctrine. Their behavior is more in favor.

I would not vote for a museum named after Xhafer Deva if I were a functionary in Kosovo. He is responsible for the February 4 massacre. He killed en masse, both civilians and the innocent. "This disqualifies a glorification that has acted over time ," Pollo said.

Xhafer Deva was an Albanian politician during the Second World War, 1939-1945.

According to historians, he was known for his nationalist activity and was anti-communist.
