Murdered Albanian in Italy, perpetrator sentenced to life imprisonment

The Italian court has sentenced Davide Osella Ghena, the perpetrator of the murder of Albanian Fatmir Ara, who was executed on September 2, 2022 in San Carlo Canavese, to life imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the court acquitted the perpetrator's sister, Barbara, and his friend, Andrea Fagnoni, who were accused of aiding and abetting the perpetrator after the crime. The prosecution had requested 22 and 13 years in prison for them, respectively.

According to the investigation, Osella Ghena killed Ara due to debts and financial problems. The victim was working on renovating a farm that belonged to the perpetrator and his partner, while the financial conflict led to his execution.

During the trial, Osella Ghena changed his testimony several times, initially admitting to the murder and then claiming that it was committed by two other people, for whom there is no evidence.

The court has also decided that Fatmir Ara's family, including his four children, should be financially compensated.
