The bust of Lekë Dukagjini is returning to the Shpenadi in Prizren

In a special historical and cultural act, the bust of Lekë Dukagjini is being placed in the village of Shpenadi in Prizren, his land of origin. This project is being implemented by the “Lekë Dukagjini” Shpenadi–Prizren Association, established this year through the mobilization of emigrants and residents of the village.
The “Lekë Dukagjini” Association has undertaken three major projects in the village of Shpenadi:
• Placing the bust of Lekë Dukagjini, the work of sculptor Fiqiri Kasa
• Renovation of the old village cemetery
• Renovation and opening of the Association’s headquarters in Shpenadi
This activity has also inspired other activists to engage in their homeland. Nue Oroshi has proposed that on November 2, 2025, a grand scientific session be held in the city of Prizren on the topic: “The Role of the Dukagjinis in Albanian History”, organized by the “Trojet e Arbrit” Association.

"Every time good things happen in my homeland, I feel doubly happy. On the one hand, something new is coming to my homeland, and on the other hand, our historical figures who belong to the Arbëro lands are returning," said Nue Oroshi.

After the session, the participants will travel to Shpenad, where three important events will take place:
1. Unveiling the bust of Lekë Dukagjini
2. Blessing of the cemetery renovated by the exiles
3. Official opening of the headquarters of the “Lekë Dukagjini” Association
“This prompted me to do something for my homeland, because we grew up and were educated together with these patriotic activists in the same school.”
This commitment proves that when Albanian exiles join their fellow villagers in their homeland and work with shared dedication, there is no shortage of results. This is living proof that love for the country and historical heritage can bring tangible and inspiring changes.
