Prime Minister Albin Kurti was invited by his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis on August 21 together with several other leaders of the region for an informal dinner.

As the Greek medium "Amna" reports, the initiative of Mitsotakis, the leaders of the Western Balkans and the EU member states at the Maximos Mansion for an informal discussion dinner on the European expansion and future of the region, underlines the role of Greece as a pillar of stability, peace and energy security in the Balkans and Southeast Europe, government sources told this medium.

Also, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacheski, and the President of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Kristo will arrive in Athens to participate in the dinner.

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council Charles Michel have responded positively to Mitsotakis' invitation "something that is both essential and symbolic", said the same sources.

Albania would not be represented at the informal dinner organized by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, even though it had received an invitation.

According to the Presidency, the reason for Albania's absence at the dinner of the leaders of the Western Balkans is the agenda of President Bajram Begaj.

What stood out was the fact that Mitsotakis had invited the president to dinner and not Prime Minister Edi Rama. The dinner and the rejection of the invitation by Albania comes after growing tensions over the case of Fredi Beleri.
