MP commits suicide inside Finnish parliament

A serious incident shook Finland on Tuesday morning, after one person lost his life in the Parliament building, Helsinki police announced.

According to local media, it is about a deputy who committed suicide within the institution's premises.

The Director of Security at the Parliament, Aaro Toivonen, told Yle that he does not deny the reported information, while adding that the operation on the ground is continuing with the participation of rescue forces, police and emergency medical teams.

The first emergency call was made at 11:06 a.m. Authorities said the incident is not suspected to be related to any crime and is being treated as a cause of death investigation.
