Rama does not give up the fiscal amnesty, as is justified

Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about the fiscal amnesty, showing no reluctance even though it is an initiative heavily criticized by international organizations.

At the annual meeting of the Coordinating Council, on the National Diaspora Day, he defended this initiative.

Rama justified himself that the fiscal amnesty is important to formalize the income of Albanians in the diaspora since they do 2-3 jobs. But local and international experts say that the amnesty paves the way for money laundering.

"On the other hand, it is interesting to see and not to forget that the contribution of refugees to emigration from Albania in these 3 decades continues to be constant in our economy and remittances in the last period have increased compared to a previous period, which proves the power of the ties between people, families and the tradition that is still strong today in the core of the Albanian family, despite the burdens and interests of those outside.

We know very well, the authorities of the countries where Albanians have been contributing for decades know that the informal economy is not the territory of developing countries but also exists in developed countries. Of course, Albanians join those communities that we know very well. Albanians have proven that they are exceptional workers. They have done 2 or 3 jobs. They have succeeded in places where they are not.

We have countless testimonies and cases that reinforce all the reasons to take this step which has been wanted for a long time, has been attempted by previous governments but has stalled as a result of pressures and the lack of desire to understand why of this important movement", said Rama.
