Albert Malaj takes office as mayor of Memaliaj, handshake between rivals

Albert Malaj officially took office today as the mayor of Memalija.

Malaj won the local elections on May 14 under the slogan of the opposition coalition "Together We Win".

The losing SP mayor, Gjolek Guci, was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

He escorted Malaj from the hall where the first meeting of the Municipal Council was held to the office, handing over the task to the political opponent.

In the May 14 elections, Albert Malaj won against Gjolek Guci of the SP with a difference of 312 votes. The rightists regain the keys to the municipality of Memaliaj after 12 years.
