Berisha: We want Albania to be the dream country of Albanian youth today

Leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, at the conference 'Electoral Campaign and Communication' organized by the Democratic Party and the Swedish foundation, 'Jarl Hjalmarson', expressed his and the party's commitment to a changed Albania, where young people are at the center of the country's development and transformation.

He stressed the historic significance of the victory on May 11 and cited the support of foreign partners, especially the Swedish Moderate party, including its prime minister.

Berisha underlined that the DP is going into this campaign with the most serious effort to save Albania from the current regime, committing to a bright future for the country and the generations to come.

Full statement:

I would like to thank our Swedish friend from the bottom of my heart, to thank the Moderate party, its prime minister, its chairman, of Sweden, for this precious help they are giving us, help which is a great encouragement to us.

It is the continuation of a tradition of long-standing cooperation that we have with this party, with which we are a family, and a help that comes at a very important time such as this electoral campaign.

Your training is extremely important.

I would like to greet the other friends present, Albana and Oerdi, and to greet all of you who are participating in this training with the best wishes, hope, and confidence that the knowledge and skills you gain in this training will be disseminated to all branches of the Democratic Party in Albania.

We go into this campaign with our most serious effort for a victory on May 11, a victory that has historical significance for Albania and beyond.

Albania today has a narco-dictatorial regime, in which all power is concentrated in one hand.

In which the most extraordinary efforts are made to control the will of Albanian citizens.

In which, just like in Tunisia, the three leaders of the main opposition parties were arrested.

But on the other hand, we come to this campaign more determined than ever to save Albania, the only country, from the second dictatorship in 33 years.

Today is a big, inspiring date for us. It is March 22, the feast of Sultan Novruz, which I congratulate all Albanian Bektashis on this occasion.

But it is also March 22, the day on which we Albanians overthrew, through a free vote, the most brutal Stalinist dictatorship that post-World War II Europe had known.

The fact that we, as a political force, reorganized, overcame great difficulties, managed to defeat all the narco-state's attempts to destroy us, and come out stronger than ever today, constitutes a powerful prerogative for our victory.

In addition, as you are aware, we have created the broadest coalition in all years.

Our allies make up about a third of Albanian voters.

The candidates have all emerged from the primaries and our membership has been consulted more than ever in their selection.

But apart from these, we have an excellent program.

The Greater Albania program is the best program that the Democratic Party has presented to Albanians in its entire existence.

This program is based on our historical achievements from the establishment of pluralism to Albania's membership in NATO.

But it has at its core the vision to rapidly transform Albania.

We want Albania to be the land of your daydreams. Every project of every individual is actually a daydream.

And no one has more beautiful daydreams than young people.

We want Albania to have young Albanians trust their dreams to Albania in the coming years.

To be obedient, to dedicate their energies to building their dream in Albania.

We aim for Albania to offer them all the facilities, all the opportunities to realize this dream.

We aim for Albania to be a just country, of equal citizens, of a state governed by law.

We aim to make every investment in young people so that they receive the best possible education, so that they are employed as much as possible, so that they succeed in their businesses.
