Environmental massacre in Lake Tregan in Elbasan. Mass death of fish from the

Also on Tuesday evening, the show Fiks Fare focused on the environmental massacre taking place in Lake Tregan in Elbasan.

An olive processing factory is dumping its waste into the lake, resulting in a massive fish kill.
Tregani is part of the government's 100-village tourism project for rural development. Fiksi took a close look at the condition of Lake Tregani, which now resembles a stagnant water reservoir. Many dead fish and other plastic waste can be seen on the surface of the water.

This lake was once a tourist attraction, but with this disaster and the heavy wind that is felt near it, even the businesses that once flourished are empty. A fisherman explains that the water of this lake is rich in sulfur, which is good for the freshwater fauna, as a result the lake has a variety of fish. He tells Fiksi that the same situation occurred in this lake two years ago.

"Two years ago, an olive processing factory was caught red-handed dumping waste into the lake, and was fined," he says. Meanwhile, the massive fish die-off is spreading across a large area of the lake.

Fiksi immediately turned to the Tregan Administrative Unit, where administrator Manjola Rexhepi stated that the unit had been notified by residents and had notified the state police, the environmental directorate, and the municipality, where they closely inspected the pollution in the lake.

"We have taken a water sample and are awaiting the analysis to determine the cause of this massive pollution," she said. The administrator also stated that whoever is guilty will be held criminally liable, as according to her, a report has been filed.

Fiksi also contacted the Berat Regional Environmental Protection Agency, which was willing to send specialists to the lake to find the cause of the pollution. At the end of the inspection yesterday evening, this directorate concluded that it suspects that the pollution comes from the activities of an olive processing factory located near the lake.

Yesterday, ARM inspectors closed the inspection procedure at this factory belonging to Mr. Ndriçim Kuqja, as according to them he could potentially be an entity causing pollution in the lake.

This entity's technological water discharge activity was suspended until the moment of submitting the analysis of the water it discharges with a licensed or accredited studio.

The entity is also tasked with carrying out the primary treatment of the water it generates by constructing septic tanks according to legal requirements, a task which, if not completed by the entity within 9 working days, will result in an administrative fine of 500,000 lek. Top Channel
