The court hearing against Ruben Saraiva is postponed again

Portuguese Ruben Saraiva, accused of the murder of businessman Ardian Nikukaj, appeared again in the Lezha Court under strict security measures.

Saraiva's case is being reviewed by Judge Renis Sheshi, while this preliminary hearing, which was to decide whether the case will proceed to trial on the merits or be returned for further investigation, was postponed due to the absence of his lawyer.

Portuguese Ruben Saraiva was extradited to Albania on December 31, 2023, following the decision of the Moroccan Court which accepted the request of the Albanian authorities. Renowned businessman Ardian Nikulaj was executed in April 2023 in Shëngjin in his hotel.

Nikulaj's murder was part of a chain of revenge that the victim's family has with the Lekstakaj tribe, a conflict that has claimed many victims over the years.
