The victim's photo and identity were published by journalist Artan Hoxha on the show 'Çim Peka Live', Syri TV. Bekim Halilaj is from the village of Bicaj in Kukës and, according to Hoxha, was initially suspected of a crime similar to the Sinaloa cartels.

Hoxha said that his family lives in Bicaj and that he had gone to Belgium for a better life.

"It is a very serious event. Very serious both because of the victim and because of the symbolism. It is an event that was initially suspected to be similar to those of the Sinaloa cartels, but ... this is Bekim Halilaj from Bicaj i Kukës, 28, hanging on a sign on the Brussels ring road.
