Video/ 260 kg of cannabis are seized in Vlora, 4 Romanian 'tourists'

The police of Vlora have seized a quantity of 260 kg of cannabis narcotic substance, as well as handcuffed 4 people with Romanian citizenship.

The Director of the Local Directorate of the Vlora Police, Chief Ermal Muçaj, at the press conference clarified the details of the coded operation "CAMPER", thanks to which the following were arrested in the act: MC, 20 years old, MC, 20 years old, FT, 24 years old and AP, 21 years old, as well as 5 others have been declared wanted.

Muçaj said that for the account of some of their Albanian collaborators, the Romanians disguised themselves as tourists, renting luxury campers, and divided into two pairs, they trafficked narcotics from our country to Greece and beyond.

"260 kg of cannabis narcotics and 2 camper vehicles that were adapted for transporting narcotics were seized.

Following the police operations to combat narcotics trafficking, the investigative structures and the Operational Force of the Vlora Local Police Directorate, as well as the services of the Sarandë and Himarë Police Stations, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance Vlora, based on police intelligence, successfully completed the coded police operation "CAMPER".

As part of this operation, today, in the early hours of the morning, it was possible to capture and handcuff 4 Romanian citizens who were transporting a quantity of 260 kilograms of cannabis sativa narcotics, in 2 luxury vehicles of the "Camper" type, with license plates Romanian, with the aim of trafficking this substance to the Greek state and beyond.

Specifically, the citizens were arrested in the act: MC, 20 years old, MC, 20 years old, FT, 24 years old and AP, 21 years old, all four with Romanian citizenship. Also, 5 citizens are wanted as collaborators in this criminal activity, but due to the investigation, their data is not made public.

During the control of their vehicles, in an attempt to leave the Albanian territory, a quantity of 260 kilograms of narcotics was found hidden in a secret and artificially adapted compartment in the vehicle.

Adapted hiding places were discovered in both seized CAMPERs.

From the investigative actions, it is suspected that these citizens, at the expense of some of their Albanian collaborators, already announced as wanted, camouflaged themselves as tourists, renting luxury campervans, and divided into two pairs, they trafficked narcotics from our country to Greece and beyond", announced Mucaj. 

Under the guidance of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Vlora, the work continues for the complete documentation of this case, as well as for the capture and bringing to justice the other Albanian co-authors already declared wanted by the Police.
