SPAK issued an arrest warrant today: Who is Ergys Agasi, described as Rama's "coordinator" with criminal groups?

The investigations of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime have brought another strong development in files related to suspicions of high-level corruption and links between politics, public tenders and criminal interests.

SPAK has executed security measures as part of the investigations being conducted by prosecutor Bledar Maksuti regarding abuses in AKSHI tenders, including businessman Ergys Agasi, a name long mentioned in public debates and media investigations for his strong ties to the Rama government and his role as an intermediary with criminal exponents.

Strong accusations from Arben Ahmetaj: Agasi, the coordinator between Rama and criminal groups

Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, currently on the run, has made serious public accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, stating that the government's ties with the underworld are carried out through a "coordinator", whom he identifies as Ergys Agasi.

In a recorded communication with investigative journalist Giorgio Mottola (RAI 3), Ahmetaj claims that criminal groups win public tenders through their representatives and that money gained from criminal activities in Europe is laundered through construction and investments in Albania. According to him, Agasi serves as the “connecting node” between the prime minister and these groups.

"He is not only connected, but I will give you the name of the coordinator, Ergys Agasi. He is a guy who lives in Durrës, near the Durrës clan. Now he has become, on Rama's behalf, the coordinator of all the groups ," says Ahmetaj, emphasizing that meetings with representatives of the criminal world, according to him, have also taken place in the Prime Minister's Office.

Who is Ergys Agassi?

Ergys Agasi is a businessman from Durrës, the son of a former Socialist Party MP. He has been active in several business sectors, including: cigarette production, logistics, construction, trade, and sports.

According to public data from commercial registers, Agasi is the owner or co-owner of several companies. So far, there has been no final court decision convicting him of links to organized crime, however his name has been frequently mentioned in the media for alleged connections with underworld figures, including individuals known for drug trafficking.
