"Hugo Boss" in two centuries and links to Nazism

"Hugo Boss" is one of the most famous companies in the fashion industry in the world with dizzying profits and international prestige. It has its origins in the small town of Metzingen, the city where its founder, Hugo Ferdinand Boss, comes from. The history of this fashion house dates back to 1923, but first we will make a description of the creator of this firm.

Hugo Ferdinand Boss was born on July 8, 1885, in Metzingen, Germany (then the German Empire). He served in the army from 1903 to 1905. His parents, Heinrich Boss and Louise Boss, owned a small clothing store, which Hugo inherited in 1908. He served in World War I (1914-1918) as a German army officer. In 1923, Hugo founded his own clothing company, together with 2 other partners, and opened the factory in 1924 in Metzingen. Initially, the company produced shirts and jackets, followed by workers' clothing, sportswear and raincoats. In its infancy, this company had about 30 employees.

Its first years were relatively fruitful, but the economic crisis of the late 20s that affected the world, known as the "Great Depression" (1929-1933), hit hard this company that was on the verge of bankruptcy. A combination of political convictions and financial pragmatism led Hugo to embrace the rise of the Nazi party to power. In 1931, he joined the Nazi party, in 1936 the "Labor Front", the "National Socialist People's Welfare" in 1941 and other organizations. The growth curve continued until 1940, after which it declined. After joining these organizations, the company's sales increased from 38,260 marks to over 3,300,000 marks in 1941. Hugo Boss was not limited to the production of military uniforms and clothing for workers. However,

Hugo ndërroi jetë më 9 gusht të vitit 1948, në moshën 63 vjeçare, në Metzingen.
