Berisha reads Washington resolution: Opposition leaders face political

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a communication with the media, stated that the resolution of the International Union for Democracy emphasizes strong support for the rule of law and institutional integrity as cornerstones of democracy.

"Today I am here before you on several issues, but I will begin first with the latest resolution adopted by the International Union for Democracy, the Washington resolution.

The International Union for Democracy is an organization consisting of 84 parties from 65 countries around the world, led by the Republican Party of the United States.

In the proceedings of the Washington Forum, President Donald Trump's closest associates, such as National Security Advisor Waltz, the co-chair of the most successful campaign in the history of Donald Trump's victory, Chris LaCivita, and many other associates of the president, spoke in the sessions of this conference.

In the proceedings of this conference, the resolution of the International Union for Democracy on Albania was unanimously approved, in which Edi Rama's narco-state is stripped of all deceptive propaganda, or to use another term, Edi Rama's gigantic pyramid of deception collapses completely and there emerges in Washington and the whole world, Albania emerges with its ugliness, Edi Rama's narco-state, a dictatorship similar to Tunisia and Lukashenko's Belarus.

The resolution states that: since IDU strongly supports the rule of law and institutional integrity as cornerstones of democracy, in Albania, 12 years of SP government have concentrated power in one person, reducing elections to a farcical facade, what we say on a daily basis.

Opposition leaders face political persecution, imprisonment, and threats, mirroring authoritarian regimes such as Belarus and Tunisia.

Given the rampant corruption and links between organized crime and SP leaders, uncovered by Belgian authorities, are alarming. Drug cartels use Albania for money laundering by linking the state with criminal groups. Wiretaps reveal collaboration between government officials and criminal groups to manipulate elections.

Given that despite OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, the socialist majority under Prime Minister Rama has failed to address electoral abuses and has unilaterally amended the constitution to weaken the opposition. With the 2025 elections approaching, political repression is escalating, marking politically motivated trials, arrests and imprisonments of opposition leaders such as Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, Fatmir Mediu, Ervin Salianji and Fredi Beleri, etc.

The Special Court's decision on November 27, 2024, to annul Mr. Berisha's arrest came shortly after the European Court of Human Rights directed questions to the parties about violations in his case, revealing a judiciary compromised by socialist influence, which has become a tool to suppress the opposition and manipulate elections.

So, you have here the most serious accusations that can be made against a country, you have here accusations that prove that this country is a true dictatorship that engages justice in the manipulation of elections and the arrest of the opposition.

The Venice Commission's warnings about the capture of justice reform in power have materialized under Rama's leadership. This means that for the 84 most powerful political parties in the world, Albanian justice has been captured by Edi Rama.

Thus threatening the democratic stability of Albania.

The requirements of the IDU are:

1. Ending political persecution of opposition leaders, and ensuring a free and fair environment for all political actors to campaign without any political persecution.

2. Preserving the rule of law and institutional integrity as foundations of a democratic society.

3. An impartial judicial system free from political interference.

4. Intensifying the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking and money laundering, ensuring that actions remain impartial and do not target the opposition.

5. Free and fair elections that guarantee the independence of public administration from the ruling party.

6. The creation of a caretaker government, according to the North Macedonia model, to organize free and fair elections.

"IDU reaffirms its support for Albania's EU membership, free elections and the critical role of the opposition in restoring democracy. IDU will closely monitor developments and support Albania's democratic and European aspirations," Berisha said.
