Berisha: The "Albanian Children" Foundation was founded in 1996 by a great and true friend of Albania, Domenik Skalione, former first president of the Albanian-American Foundation for Entrepreneurship, who in 2005 entrusted the management of this foundation to Liri Berisha, who after retiring, instead of working in a private clinic, chose to devote herself without any kind of salary or compensation to help, mainly Albanian children, but also the elderly here.

Just like her, the board of the foundation from the establishment until today has worked with dedication without any reward.

Under her leadership and that of the board, the "Albanian Children" Foundation has made a substantial contribution to the scientific treatment of thalassemia, building from nothing in Lushnje the most modern center in the country for the treatment of thalassemia, for which she was honored with the Honorary Citizen by the socialist municipality of the city.

The foundation, with its connections, has managed to send dozens of children to the best hospitals for difficult operations and has helped hundreds of children in orphanages, but also in kindergartens, and even elderly people in asylums.

But without a doubt, the most extraordinary contribution this foundation, against which Rama has planned his woes and misfortunes in the media, and his mercenaries in the political prosecution, has given from 2005 onwards with the radical turn that he managed to mark in his attitude in Albania to autism disorder and specifically in the field of increasing society's sensitivity to autism and in diagnosis, modern treatment of autistic children and scientific studies in this field.

This foundation, with the support of the 'Autizem Specs' foundation without any help from the state, established in Tirana the Regional Center of Autism, a center of excellence, which has diagnosed and treated with modern methods thousands of children from Albania and hundreds from the surrounding countries, and with a success of over 85% (success is considered when these children go to school).

The Regional Autism Center of Tirana has set up centers in almost all the big cities of the country, from Gjirokastra to Kukës, but also in the three surrounding countries.

The center has specialized hundreds of psychologists in this field, has published seven main books in the field and produced a series of DVDs, which help not only specialists, but also parents to help their children with this disorder, which unfortunately the incidence of which is growing a lot.

From 1 in 170 people that was 5-6 years ago, today in the USA it is written that this disorder affects 1 in 36 children.

I emphasize once again that the foundation did not receive a single penny from the government before 2013, while after 2013, repeated shameful attempts were made by the government authorities to damage its activity.
