The DP leadership makes the decision, the date when the primaries will be held

The Democratic Party will hold primaries on March 1. The decision was made by the leadership of the DP, at a meeting on Tuesday, February 11, where it was decided that this competition for the selection of candidates for MPs from among the Democrats will be held at the district level.

The three proposals were: holding primaries at the DP branch level, at the district level, and nationally. What was chosen was at the district level.

At yesterday's meeting, the regulation of the primaries was also discussed, where these will be qualifying primaries.

Referring to the Presidency's decision, each district will have its own specifications or regulations, based on the number of population, DP members, and the number of candidates.

Those who pass the threshold (each district will have a threshold) qualify and their names will be submitted to the DP Presidency. The DP Presidency will then decide which candidate will be on the closed and open lists.

This decision will then have to be passed on to the National Council.
