Shkodra Democrats commemorated the first anti-communist protest of January 14, 1990, the day when the youth of this city rose up against the symbols of communism.

The announcement for this meeting was made by the political leader of the Democratic Party for Shkodra, Luciano Boçi, who wrote that "the attempt to topple the bust of Stalin, located in the center of Shkodra, persecuted by the Enverist regime, would also be the starting point for the collapse of the most savage dictatorship in all of Europe."

Message:

We commemorated in Shkodra on January 14, 1990, the anti-communist uprising, the day when the youth of this city rose up against the symbols of communism.

The attempt to topple the bust of Stalin, located in the center of Shkodra, persecuted by the Enverist regime, would also be the starting point for the collapse of the most brutal dictatorship in all of Europe.

Rini Monajka suffered inhuman torture in the interrogation room, as a result of which he would die some time later.

While Gjergj Livadhi, Dedë Kasneci, Kolec Hublina, Flamur Elbasani, Nikolin Margjini, Tonin Dema, Nikolin Thana, Klaudio Daka, Aldo Perizi, Gjovalin Rolba, Gjovalin Zefi, Ndoc Leqejza, Pjerin Veli, Paulin Shtjefni, Viktor Martini, Huana Kurti would be persecuted, imprisoned and tortured by the repressive apparatus of the time.

January 14 would precede successive movements that culminated in the overthrow of the communist dictatorship and the installation of political pluralism and democracy in the country.

Today more than ever, under the example of January 14, the young men and women of this country must say 'stop' to this dictatorship that is ruling the country.

To bring hope to Shkodra and Albania, to overthrow the regime of Rama and his thieves, and to elect the Democratic Party as the only force that will advance important reforms and lift Albanians out of poverty, who have been tired for 12 years.
