"Civil registry system with serious problems", PD-Rama: Where did 8.5

The Democratic Party denounces that the civil status system continues to have serious problems, even though the National Information Society Agency has tendered 8.5 million euros for its 'improvement' and maintenance.

The Democratic Party's Anti-Corruption Spokesperson, Genta Vangjeli, in a statement to the media, asked Prime Minister Edi Rama where the 8.5 million euros tendered over the last three years had gone, if the civil registry system continues to have serious problems.

DP statement:

During the presentation of the new Minister of Internal Affairs, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that one of the priorities of this ministry will be to resolve the issues related to the functioning of the civil status registry.

But, for this situation, the responsibility falls directly on the Prime Minister himself.

From 2022 to 2025, the National Agency for the Information Society, under his authority, has tendered a full 8.5 million euros for the 'improvement' and maintenance of the national civil status registry system.

The company Soft & Solution shpk, owned by Ermal Beqiri, has been contracted to improve the system.

Meanwhile, the foreign company Xion IT Systems GmbH has been contracted over the years to maintain the registry.

Today, even though millions of euros have been tendered, the Prime Minister publicly admits that the civil registry system continues to have serious problems.

Our question for Edi Rama is clear:

Where have the 8.5 million euros tendered over the last three years gone, if the civil registry system continues to have serious problems?

Is there the will of the justice system to investigate these millions of euros spent in one of the country's most problematic institutions, or will the silence continue again?
