Spectacular prison escape in Greece: Two Albanians disappear from Kasavetia

Two Albanian citizens aged 41 have escaped from The Casavetia Prison in Greece, shocking local authorities. Their escape was discovered at around 9pm yesterday evening, during the usual search by wardens.

The fugitives were sentenced to 20 years of freedom for serious offenses such as murder, robbery and destruction of property by fire. They had been held in this prison since 2019 while staying in an undying area because of good behavior.

In 2024, they had been granted five times. Authorities suspect the escape may have been planned during their return from one of the permits several days earlier.

The investigative group is continuing to investigate how the escape occurred and to follow in the footsteps of the two escapees. The incident has sparked widespread backlash and raised questions about the security system in Greek prisons.
