The First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan has imposed security measures against three former public officials, who are being investigated for a suspected case of obtaining wealth through pressure, intimidation and violence.

The suspects, identified by the initials GA, KH and DA, who previously held the positions of Director of the Police Supervision Agency, Judicial Police Officer and Director of the Municipal Police, respectively, have been subject to the measures of "Compulsory appearance" and "Prohibition of leaving the territory of Albania".

According to the prosecution, the three former officials are suspected of having acted in collaboration to commit the criminal offense of "Coercion by threat or violence for the provision of property."

The criminal proceedings have been initiated following materials referred by the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), while preliminary investigations have raised suspicions that those involved used the authority of the functions they held to exert pressure on the administrator of a private company.

According to investigators' suspicions, the goal was to unfairly benefit from the businessman's wealth, in exchange for avoiding controls and verifications of the activity of the entity he administered.

The prosecution assesses that the alleged actions have violated not only the right to property, but also the freedom of the individual, while investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances of the case and to document every possible element of illegal activity.
