Iran hits the TIMS system in Albania, police in VOA: Massive attack like on July

In Albania, the authorities announced today that Iran has once again hit one of the important IT systems, that of recording entry and exit from the country, known as the TIMS system. " Another cyber attack by the same aggressors, already exposed and condemned by Albania's allied and friendly countries, was recorded last night on the TIMS system", announced Prime Minister Edi Rama in a tweet.

Official sources from the Albanian police told the Voice of America that "it is about a massive attack, similar to that of July 15", which hit the entire structure of government information systems. The same sources explained that the attack was noticed quickly, and that the authorities immediately turned off the system to avoid possible damage.

"Meanwhile, we continue to work around the clock with our allies to make our digital systems impenetrable," Prime Minister Rama wrote.

Currently, the border points are working manually for the registration of citizens and vehicles entering and leaving the country. The Voice of America has learned that the detailed verification of the system is being done and that it is expected to be put into operation very soon, perhaps first at the "Mother Teresa" airport.

Last night's attack follows the decision three days ago by the Albanian government to cut off diplomatic relations with Iran, as a reaction to the massive cyber attack in July, and yesterday's announcement by the United States to impose new sanctions on the Iranian Ministry of Defense. Intelligence and Security and its minister Esmail Khatibi for involvement in cyber activities against the United States and its allies, mentioning among these activities, the cyber attack on Albania.
Iran reacted by rejecting the accusations.

According to the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanani, quoted by the local media, "the immediate support of the United States to the false accusations of the Albanian government and the hasty action of Washington, for new sanctions, based on unproven accusations prove clearly, this scenario was drawn up by the American administration, not by the Albanian government.

"Tirana fell victim to the scenario that Washington concocted against the Islamic Republic of Iran" , the spokesman is said to have declared. VOA
