Two Albanians identified as Blerim Salimusaj, 26, and Luka Mecini, 22, have been sentenced to 16 months in prison in Britain, after being caught on a cannabis farm.

The arrests of two Albanians were carried out on February 29 in Egremont. During the physical check on the cannabis farms, the police found and seized 185 plants.

During the court session, Salimusaj's lawyer said that the defendant went to Britain illegally in 2018 and owed 20,000 pounds.

" He was working to pay off his entry ticket to Britain. Cultivated cannabis to pay off debt. It was not intended to deal with criminal organizations. Before that, he worked in construction, but the profits were low and he could not repay the debt", stated his defense lawyer.

The city court sentenced the two Albanians to 18 months in prison and deportation after paying their debts.
