A group of researchers, intellectuals, students and citizens have sent an urgent petition to the AMA, through which they have expressed concern about the quality of audiovisual media and respect for scientific information.

The petition underlines the fact that the low level of scientific information in part of our media, the promotion of amateurish knowledge, vulgar etymology and charlatanism have created an alarming situation, specifically for the Albanian language.

They ask the AMA to take measures as according to them the literary standard of Albanian is not respected in the Albanian media.

With this petition, we, a group of researchers, intellectuals, students and other citizens, very concerned about the quality of audiovisual media and the respect of scientific information, would like to address you with an important and urgent request.

The low level of scientific information in part of our media, the promotion of amateurish knowledge, vulgar etymology and charlatanism have created an alarming situation. Some television studios have turned into platforms for scientifically unprepared individuals, who promote the idea that Albanian is the most ancient language in the world and the mother of all languages, that all languages ​​of the world are explained through Albanian, that it is language of nature, that this language starts with the beginnings of humanity, etc. Such formulations have nothing scientific and, as such, cultivate sick and dangerous psychoses in public opinion.

The institution tasked with protecting the public from wrong, harmful and dangerous information is the AMA. This institution has included in its statute this duty and this responsibility in the point "Basic principles for the activity of audiovisual transmissions", through "guaranteeing the right to information" and "respecting the literary standard of the Albanian language".

Can it be allowed to smear figures with outstanding contributions in the field of Albanianology, such as that of Prof. Eqrem Çabejt, internationally known from Albanian science? The impression is created that the media and some of the persons invited by them want to create an Albanian "science", which opposes the world one, which makes us ridiculous in the eyes of the world. In some television shows, everything that has been achieved for a very long time by Albanian studies is attacked with an anti-scientific language, and thus ignorance is trying to prevail over knowledge.

Agresivitetin e disa individëve, të cilëve u mungon çdo lloj ekspertize e profesionalizmi në fushën e gjuhësisë, por që pretendojnë se kanë monopolin e së vërtetës, e tolerojnë dhe e ushqejnë drejtues emisionesh televizivë që i popullarizojnë jo vetëm duke i ftuar vazhdimisht në studiot e tyre, por edhe duke i përkrahur në idetë e tyre haluçinante. Ky agresivitet ka sjellë stepjen e përfaqësuesve të mendimit të njëmendtë shkencor në vendin tonë, pasi ndaj këtyre të fundit nuk kursehen shpifje, sharje e deri kërcënime. Studimi i vjetërsisë së gjuhës shqipe nuk mund t’u lihet pseudoalbanologëve, etimologëve të improvizuar, pikëpamjet e të cilëve s’do të pranoheshin nga asnjë forum shkencor brenda e jashtë Shqipërisë.

Liri e medias nuk do të thotë mungesë përgjegjësie në media. Duke u bërë jehonë gjithfarë “zbulimesh” lidhur me vjetërsinë e shqipes, disa kanale televizivë kanë ngjallur një histeri nacionalizmi që u siguron “zbuluesve” mijëra pëlqime në portalet e tyre. Në fakt, shkenca nuk krijon dot turmë ndjekësish, përveç se në regjime totalitarë, kur përdoret për propagandë. Dhe shkencëtarët, në kërkimet e tyre shkencore e në ballafaqimet mes tyre, nuk përdorin gjuhë agresive e fyese, por argumente shkencorë.

Kjo gjendje, pra sulmi i pseudoshkencës ndaj shkencës së vërtetë, duhet konsideruar një çështje kombëtare shumë serioze, dhe një problem që u shtohet problemeve të tjera me të cilët ndeshet vendi ynë; ajo krijon e shton mosmarrëveshje e dasi krejt të panevojshme e dëmprurëse mes bashkatdhetarësh.

Një tjetër detyrim i AMA-s, i përcaktuar në statutin e këtij autoriteti, është moslejimi i konflikteve ndëretnike në emisionet televizive. Ky detyrim duket se nuk zbatohet si duhet kur lejohen të paraqiten si të vërteta të dhëna historike që nuk kanë asnjë bazë lidhur me prejardhjen e shqiptarëve e të fqinjëve tanë, siç ndodh kur vendeve të tjerë u mohohen kombi, historia, gjuha.

As standardi letrar i shqipes nuk respektohet në mediat tona. Natyrisht, ky detyrim duhet të jetë për drejtuesit e emisioneve, për folësit e lajmeve, për njoftime me karakter zyrtar dhe jo për letërsinë artistike, jo për këngët, jo për të ftuarit.

Për t’i vënë fre kësaj gjendjeje shqetësuese, sugjerojmë:

(a) Të merren masat e duhura që AMA të kryejë detyrën e saj për kontrollin e cilësisë së emisioneve në mediat tona;

(b) Burimet dhe studimet shkencore të identifikohen e të prezantohen në mënyrë të qartë në të gjitha raportimet shkencore;

(c) Në emisionet televizive të flitet me një gjuhë të kuptueshme për të shpjeguar terminologjinë shkencore për audiencën e gjerë;

(ç) Ministria e Arsimit të mos lejojë mësimdhënësit t’u mësojnë nxënësve e studentëve teori të pamiratuara nga shkenca;

(d) Qeveria, e së pari ministria e Arsimit, të ketë një agjendë për ngritjen e nivelit kulturor të qytetarëve, që këta të mos bien pre e gjithfarë teorish antishkencore.
