The SP did not lead Xhačka's mandate to the 'Constitutional', the US embassy reacts: The government must respect the laws
The Embassy of the United States of America in Tirana has reacted with concern regarding the decision of the Parliament, not sending the mandate of former minister Olta Xhaçka to the Constitutional Court.
In a post on social networks, the embassy writes that the government and institutions must respect the rules, laws, court decisions and the Constitution.
"The US Embassy shares the concern of the Delegation of the European Union regarding the decision of the Parliament of Albania to ignore a decision of the Constitutional Court.
As the Speaker of the Parliament recently observed, taking the necessary steps for the decisions of the Constitutional Court is the central responsibility of the Parliament and is also vital for the separation of powers.
Government and institutions must respect rules, laws, court decisions and the constitution – all of which are there to ensure that the democratic system is healthy and flourishing ," the embassy statement said.
