Prime Minister Edi Rama's proposal for the creation of a sovereign state of the "Bektashi Order" within Albania has opened debate and has been criticized as a dangerous idea.
Historian Pellumb Xhufi considered the proposed idea unacceptable.
Invited to News24, Xhufi said that it is an anti-constitutional idea. "The creation of a state within a state is unconstitutional. It creates problems with the countries around us, as it creates problems between the communities themselves. I am a Bektashi myself, and I ask what this new state is ," said Xhufi.
